Finding Confidence Through Trusting God
What does it really mean to have a confident heart? Is this something that can be shown through someone’s actions? As I spent time preparing for this blog post, the title “confident heart” continued to come back to me. I believe a confident heart means that regardless of what your life may look or feel like, you are sure that it will all somehow come together. I want you to take some time to reflect on what you’ve been thinking about. Have you been worrying about your next step in life? Do you often feel anxious when making a decision? I can recall when I lived a life filled with anxious thoughts that caused me to be stressed out about everything. Such as, my “love life’ and whether or not I would experience true love. Ladies, the key to having a confident heart is trusting that whatever your concerned about is going to work out for your good (See Romans 8:28). In the past, my mind was filled with thoughts of worry. I often thought about the following: “Will I ever be married? Why don’t they accept me? Why am I so hard on myself? Or Why is it always so hard for me to make a decision?” I believe each of these thoughts embodies stress and anxiety that I often experienced. I want you to know that whatever concerns you, concerns God. What would happen if you shifted your focus away from anxious thoughts?
No More Feeling Anxious
I finally decided to set aside my plans for the plans of Jesus. After doing so, I no longer had to fret or worry about how my future would look. Instead, I put my trust in Jesus, and I experience true peace. By doing this, God was able to fill my heart with confidence. A confident heart is obviously not something tangible. Instead it’s feelings of peace, hope, and joy, knowing that God has it all figured out on my behalf. Ladies, talk about true freedom!
Below are affirmations that I encourage you to say to replace anxious thoughts:
"I choose to put my trust in God because His timing is perfect!
All things are working together for my good!
I will cast my cares upon the Lord because He cares for me.
I will not worry about the future because I know that God has a plan in place for me!"
Finding Security in the Plans of God
I’ve heard it said like this: “Be confident in what God tells you to do and believe it’s the right thing to do.” This was so profound to me because I wasn’t experiencing peace as I should have been. Instead, I was so focused on what others would think about the goal that I had been working towards. Often it can be very tempting to find confidence according to the people around you. This can be very dangerous in terms of being secure in who you are and what you are called to do. What happens when you are secure in who you are? You will no longer worry about the interview, the performance at your job, your calling, your appearance, or anything else of that nature.
I’m here to remind you that God has a plan for your life! Whether you believe it or not, He does. I want you to know that what God has started in you, He will finish. I encourage you to take the one thing you’ve been burdened with and give it to Him.
After all, He cares for you (See 1 Peter 5:7).
3 Keys to Having a Confident Heart:
1. In order to fully experience inner peace, you must learn to trust in God.
2. Don’t allow anxious thoughts to detour you from being at peace with yourself.
3. Confidence is not about being perfect; it’s about trusting the process through the imperfections.
