I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and rejoice in you;
I will sing of the praises of your name, O Most High.
I can honestly say that this is my absolute favorite time of year. During this season, I enjoy reflecting on my life and what God has done in me so far. As I take a moment to reflect on this season of my life, I’m reminded of God’s goodness. Honestly, I don’t live a perfect life and not everything goes the way that I want it. I just believe there’s freedom in knowing how to give thanks to God for what He has done in our lives. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”. I love this verse because it shifts my focus to a positive perspective. Can I be honest with you? At times, it can be difficult to be thankful in all circumstances. However, I have found the moment I shift my focus and I give thanks even when I don’t have the shopping budget that I want, more time spent at home, or the dream job—I begin to understand that God has me right where He wants me. It’s easy to complain about what isn’t but it takes great courage to really open your eyes and see the blessings all around you.
Thankful for God’s Grace
There are so many things that I am thankful for this year. One of them is having the ability to maintain multiple tasks and still be given the opportunity to receive my Bachelors’ Degree in December! Transparent Moment Alert: The past 6 to 8 months I have been working hard to complete my degree. It consisted of waking up at 5:30 am, and then arriving at my internship at 7:00 am, and then to work at 10:30 am. Only to come home at about 6:30 pm. You’re probably thinking…. why did you do that?! Well, it was because I had a vision in mind of finishing school while also working full time, and blogging! Was it extremely hard? Yes! Did I almost give up nearly every other day? Yes! But what do you think kept me going? The very grace of God.
The definition of grace is: unmerited favor, undeserved, but given because of God’s love. It also means God’s ability to wipe us clean from our wrong doings. In this season, I experienced a different kind of grace. I personally experienced His power to allow to me complete all that He wanted me to complete. I share this with you to encourage you to keep going even when it gets tough! Ladies, know that God is there to help you accomplish any goal that you desire to accomplish. He wants to be a part of it!
Thankful for a Support System
I believe your greatest accomplishments are birthed with the help of a good support system. Personally, this year I have been blessed with the support of my husband while pursuing my dream of this blog, work, and the new launch of Confidence Found in Christ. I say with such thankfulness in my heart that I will be graduating next month with my Bachelors’ Degree. And I couldn’t have done that without the grace of God and the support from my husband. You know I have learned that God has a way of showing His love through the people He places in your life. To the women who desires to be married one day, I want to encourage you to wait on God’s timing. I say this because you will need a good support system in place for the plans and dreams God has set out for you! Many times, as women we may want to accomplish dreams or goals by ourselves. I have found it to be true that two is in fact better than one (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12) The moments where I became weak and wanted to give up after 10-12-hour day, my husband was there to encourage me and help bring my dream back to life. I think it’s always important to be thankful for those that God places in your corner. Who is currently in your life that has been a support system in this season?
Thankful for Friendships
One of the things that I am thankful for is the friendships that God has placed in my life. In the past, I went through a season of learning how to let go of toxic relationships and friendships. I didn’t understand the reason behind it at the time. Today, I can see the importance of being obedient of letting the wrong relationships go. To let go of something, you must have faith that the outcome is going to work out for your good. I have learned that by trusting God with my desire to have good friendships, God has blessed me with friendships that will last a lifetime. However, my definition of a friendship has seemingly changed. I say this because I personally thought friendships was a give and take type of relationship. I thought it solely meant going out for a shopping trip or for lunch every week. I realized that friendships have more meaning than that. In fact, I learned that a good friendship is one that supports God’s purpose and calling on your life. One who prays for you even when you don’t know it. A friend that you may not see every day but when you do get together you are encouraging and lifting one another up with your words. For them and you, I am forever thankful.
Time to Reflect
Ladies, what is the one thing that you survived this year so far that you didn’t think you would be able to overcome? Maybe it was a job loss, a relationship that didn’t work out, or a friendship that had turmoil. Whatever situations you faced this year, I want to let you know that one day you will be able to encourage someone through your story. If you continue to not give up, allow God to help you along the way, you can and will make a difference. We all have many blessings in our lives that can easily be overlooked. I want you to take the time to reflect on what it is that you are truly grateful for.
p.s. I’m also thankful for this dream that God has given me to reach YOU! Confidence Found in Christ has been one of the greatest opportunities that I’ve been a part of. Dear friends, if I may be honest with you, it has been one of the busiest seasons of my life. But also, one of the greatest seasons of my life! I’d love to know, what are you currently most thankful for?
